UConn Vs. Stanford pt. II

Tonight the UConn Lady Huskies will try to win their 78th straight game as well as their second consecutive title. They have made it to this point by absolutely demolishing every team they’ve faced including Britney Griner and Co. They will square off with the Lady Cardinals of Stanford. Stanford is riding a wave of emotion after beating Oklahoma in the final seconds of their semi-finals game.

Stanford looks to give UConn a run for their money than Baylor did. They have a more options on offense with Jayne Appel, Kayla Pederson and Nnemkadi Ogwumike, who went off for 38 points against Oklahoma. They also faced the Lady Huskies and were able to hang with them for an entire half so they know what to expect.

While this will be a good game, I feel that Stanford just doesn’t have enough to pull the upset. Maya Moore has stepped up her already explosive game averaging close to 25 points per game and shooting around 60 percent in the tournament. She showed that she’s able to put fatigue behind her and come through when her team needs her most. Tina Charles absolutely had her way with Britney Griner outsmarting and out hustling her. She is too versatile to be contained. The supporting cast of the Lady Huskies is quite solid as well getting it done on the defensive end for 40 minutes straight. In the end, UConn will prove to be too much to handle and defeat Stanford by around the same margin as the game in December. And that’s just how I’m feelin…
