Nets Miss the Mark Again and Again and Again…

The dust has settled from the All-Star Game and the trade deadline frenzy. As we look at how the playoff picture is shaping up I can’t help but wonder “What the deuce is going on with those Nets?!?” They started 0-18 the worst start in NBA history and just when you thought they couldn’t get any worse they did. The losses continued to pile up and as of today the Nets have accumulated a whopping 51 Ls. I scoured the internet for an explanation and came across a column on the website Bleacher Report by featured columnist Bryan Toporek  that gave insight to the modern-day Hindenburg that is the New Jersey Nets.

Toporek listed three main factors that contributed to the Nets’ downward spiral. The first is the trading of Vince Carter. New Jersey basically sent their star player away and got little in return. Rafer Alston was released from the team, they didn’t really expect much out of Tony Battie and Courtney Lee has been sketchy at best.  The second cause of this athletic train wreck is Devin Harris, or the lack of. Harris has been plagued with injuries and has been a virtual non-factor after earning an All-Star nod just last season. The final point Mr. Toporek made was the banishing of Chris Douglas-Roberts to the bench. After starting 35 games and filling, the void left by injured and absent guards Harris and Lee, CDR was told to have a seat.

Some might even believe God is punishing  co-owner Jay-Z for being a freemason. Farfetched maybe, but with a 5-51 record I wouldn’t rule anything out. And that’s just how I’m feeling…

The only bright spot is Brook Lopez this year. This team is a pathetic excuse for a professional basketball team!
